Disclaimer: There are many carbonara recipes, this one is just one of manies, we tried it and we like this version ! Feel free to try oher version if you want.


  • 500 grams of linguine
  • 1 bottle of whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 200 grams of diced bacon
  • 80 grams of shredded emmental 
  • 1 onion chopped (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic (optional)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of Pepper

How to cook linguine carbonara

Cook the Pasta

Put 1.5L of water in a large pot. When it's boiling put 500g of Linguine inside.

Let the pasta cook for 10-15mn depending of how you prefer them (al-dente or soft).

Prepare the bacon

During this time cook the diced bacon in a big pan. No need to add butter or olive oil as it is already fat.
You can cook them with a chopped onion for more taste.

Prepare the sauce

Mix 2 egg and whipped cream in a big bowl with salt and pepper.

If you want you can add chopped garlic when the diced bacons are almost cooked.

Take out the diced bacons of the pan before they get crispy. Put them aside.

Mix everything

When the linguine are ready, drain the water.
Then put the linguine in the bowl with the mixture of egg and whipped cream and mix them all together. ( or you can also pour the mixture on the linguine if you prefer).

As the pasta are still very hot it will cook the sauce just enough to give a lovely texture. 
Quickly add the diced bacon with the chopped onion and keep mixing.

You can add cheese and olive oil during the process.
